Plavix goes generic. Prices vary widely on Plavix, so shop carefully. Call local pharmacies, including your “favorite” and ask for pricing on generic Plavix. The folks at Consumer reports have this advice.
We phoned 30 pharmacies around the U.S. and found the price for a month’s supply of the 75 milligram (mg) dose varied from less than $15 at several Costco pharmacies to $175 or more at the CVS, Target, and Walgreens stores we contacted. Walmart consistently quoted us less than $50, as did several independent pharmacies.
Only two of the pharmacies we spoke with reported they did not have generic Plavix in stock yet. None of the pharmacies had the 300 mg dose available.
If you want the brand name, 30 tablets (75 mg) will run about $230.
You should also check with the manufacturer to see if you can qualify for a subsidized copay plan that allows you to get a 30 day supply of Plavix for as little as $37.
We also like our favorite Canadian pharmacy, BlueSky, for most prescription medications.
