Seniors in Georgia calling 1-800-Medicare may be disappointed in what they hear. The GAO report on calls to 1-800-MEDICARE is not encouraging. Almost 4 out of 10 calls either were not answered or the information provided was incorrect. This is government health insurance and if they don’t know the answer, then . . .
Many of us will remember Lily Tomlin on Laugh In playing Ernestine the operator.
“One ringy-dingy”
“Two ringy-dingy’s”
Apparently she now works for Medicare.
According to the report, 10% of calls to 1-800-MEDICARE were never answered.
Good thing they don’t run the suicide prevention hotline.
Another 29% of callers were given wrong answers.
Not encouraging.
But on the bright side 55% of calls answered (61% of all calls made) were given answers that were correct.
Now don’t you feel better?
Georgia Medicare Plans not only offers instant Medigap quotes but access to an independent Medicare supplement plan agent with more than 37 years experience.
