Mutual of Omaha Medicare supplement plan F. Popular in Georgia, but are you paying too much?
Bob Vineyard at Georgia Medicare Plans saved a south Georgia couple over $1700 per year by making a switch.
I really can’t say why Mutual of Omaha (United of Omaha) plans are so popular here, especially Medicare supplement plan F. The only reason I can figure is because the agents who promote United, and push plan F, are just commission hungry and like to take advantage of seniors.

If a male, age 67 in Atlanta has a Mutual of Omaha plan F they could be overpaying as much as $384 per year for the same plan F through another carrier. A female, age 68 in Macon could be overpaying as much as $408 per year for the same plan.
Who has money to throw away like that?
Don’t get me wrong. Mutual of Omaha (United of Omaha in Georgia) is a great company but the only reason you would ever pay more for Medigap is if you actually received a benefit from paying the higher premiums.
Truth is, you don’t get more, you simply are paying too much.
Every carrier, including Mutual of Omaha, has rate increases. Here is what some of the Mutual of Omaha policyholders have to say.
Although the service has been okay to this point, the idea of starting off a new customer on a reasonable rate and then increasing the monthly rate by 45%, is ridiculous. I called another insurance company and was told that their usual increase if any would run in the 3 to 4% range. Shouldn’t this be against the law? Not only did they increase my payments, they did it by 23% the first time, before my year was up, and another 22% within the next 9 months. Excuse me, but shouldn’t these increases come at the time of renewal? I am really frustrated by this bait and switch tactic and will not be renewing my membership. Perhaps losing all of their customers because of this tactic will let them know that this is not acceptable.

Our own experience seems to add credence to the complaints aired about Mutual of Omaha renewal rate increases. Not only are Mutual of Omaha premiums higher than many other Medigap carriers, but their renewals tend to be excessive.
Compared to carriers such as New Era who have had increases of 9% and 6% in 2012 and 2011 we feel policyholders with Mutual of Omaha deserve a break. Check your rates against other Medigap carriers with an INSTANT MEDIGAP QUOTE from Georgia Medicare Plans.
