We Get Letters

Hello,
Thanks for the follow-up on medicare plans.
I now have plan E with Royal Neighbors, but it is going up to 154.00 for 2012. They also have a deductible that was $100.00 per year for the past two years. I realize that plan E is no longer available, but I am free to stay with it as a current policy holder.
I am interested in Plan “G” or Plan “N”. Please find the lowest cost policy with a reputable company.
I have been doing a lot of research and just need to put it into place during the allotted time.
Please reply whenever it is convenient for you.
Thanks, Beverly
Hi Beverly -
Thank you for visiting my site.
There are over 20 different carriers offering Medigap plans in Georgia but only a handful illustrate rates online. Many will only provide rates if you allow an agent to come to your home and SELL you on their most expensive plan.
Who wants to do that?
I have access to the lowest rates in GA from the top carriers, and I won’t insist on coming to your home. We can handle everything by phone or email, and when necessary, by USPS.
Chances are the plan you select this year will be good for 2 – 4 years before it becomes too expensive. You can go through this process of searching each year for the best plan, or you can pick a broker to keep you up to date on the best values in your area.
Below are rates from some of the more competitive carriers on the most popular plans.
All plans with the same letter are identical your doctor really doesn’t care who your Medigap carrier is. Might as well go for the lowest premium.
Best available rates for you on select plans as follows. These rates are not online.
Plan F – $134
Plan G – $111
Plan N – $87
We also have higher priced plans available on request.
Carriers know consumers shop for plan F so there is little deviation in price from one carrier to the next. The REAL savings will be in plan G.
For most people, plan G is a better choice and you can find significant discounts from one carrier to the next.
Most agents will not tell you this, but if your savings on plan G is greater than the Medicare Part B deductible then G is your best overall value.
You can pay more but you don’t get more, it simply means you paid too much.

Hi Mr. Vineyard,Thank you for the speedy and transparent reply. I am so impressed at the professional and thorough site that you put together, specially since you are just new to Medicare. Very well done! Most of my experience has been in the MA plans and so I was hoping to ask about that but, now that I know that you are exclusively in the Gap business I’ll keep my questions to that area.Hopefully we can speak sometime this week.

Sincerely,
Ana Maria

Hi Ana Maria -Thx for writing and for the kind words.Plan F is the most popular for gap plans. I usually lead with G and some follow my advice but a few want N or High F.That is about all for now. Call next week if you want to talk further. Number is 404 252 5859

take care,

Bob

Thanks for all the information you gave me yesterday – and the listing of the possible insurance companies. It really helped me understand the options.Since I am trying to quit (have almost succeeded) smoking, how long before that would make any change in premiums?

Thanks again – and have a nice evening.
Anne Jones

Hi Anne -
Thanks for calling. I hope I was able to answer your questions. If not, you know where to reach me.
To recap . . .
You turn 65 in January, 2012 and want Medicare A & B as well as supplement plan F.
You are diabetic and use tobacco.
You want Medicare Part D (prescription drugs). I am referring you to Scott Mansfield for that. He is my “drug dealer”. Scott’s number is 770-252-7944. The government does not allow him to call you. You will need to call him about Part D.
Attached are CURRENT rates for plan F from the top carriers in Georgia. Rates may change between now and January, 2012.
Medigap plan F covers medical bills approved by Medicare (A and B). Plan F pays your Part A hospital deductible and coinsurance as well as Part B doctor deductible and coinsurance.
With original Medicare and a supplement plan you can use any doctor that accepts Medicare assignment.
If you think of something else, give me a call and I will do my best to answer your questions.
We should in touch in November to set everything up for January. Some of the carriers allow me to take the application by phone while others want a paper application.
If I have helped in any way, please pass my name along to your friends!
take care,

I am currently enrolled in AARP’s United Healthcare Plan and somewhat “afraid” to leave it since I’ve had some health issues lately. Does that affect whether or not I would be accepted by a different carrier? I have Plan F currently and pay $189.70 although I’m sure it will go up in 2012. I prefer not to be with AARP because of their political leanings but need to know if I have options.

Any guidance you can offer would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Audrey
